About Me

Hi, I'm Jolene (she/her).

As a person, I love animals, particularly my two cats (who you will likely see on screen at some point in your therapy), reading and playing games. As a qualified therapist, I'm an advocate for personal growth, healing, and self-discovery.

With a rich background spanning over two decades in the field neurodiversity and mental health support in Universities, my journey into counselling is deeply rooted in a passion for supporting people.

What really pushed me towards becoming a counsellor was my personal experience of therapy. My first therapy, over fifteen years ago, just 6 weeks of CBT acted as the catalyst for a deep exploration of myself. Eventually changing my life and view of myself and leading me to work as a therapist.

Today, I help many different people, each dealing with their own set of challenges and desire to improve their lives. My clients often say that I make them feel safe and understood and accepted for who they are. I understand what it's like to feel unsure, vulnerable and lacking confidence. I know firsthand how powerful it can be to have someone really listen to you, and I bring this understanding to my work.

I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia and ADHD later in life, and combined with my experience with supporting others with neurodivergent conditions, gives me deeper understandings. This, along with my work, helps me understand the challenges of feeling different and how it can affect your self-esteem and how you value yourself. I've also been a parent to premature babies in neonatal care. This experience has helped me to support people whose journey to becoming a parent didn't go as planned, whether it's having twins/multiples, dealing with disability, facing loss or figuring out your identity as a parent.

One of my core practices is including everyone, showing empathy and respect, and truly wanting to help people with life's difficulties. I'm here to support you in building meaningful relationships and feeling better about yourself.

Working remotely can be an incredibly freeing experience for some of my clients, who otherwise might struggle to find the right therapist locally or attend in-person sessions.

Remote therapy provides greater freedom and control over your therapy experience. You can attend sessions from a private space during your workday or from the comfort of your home, wrapped in a cosy or weighted blanket or anything in between - it really is about what suits you best. All you need is a private space and a desire to make positive progress.
